Richard B. Freeman in his book The New Inequality has discussed about the income inequality problems that are prevalent in the United States. The same has risen to unexpectedly high levels. He has told one and all about the unfathomable experiences attached with earnings of low-paid Americans as well as income recession that has hit these people consisting of nearly 80% of all American families. This paper discusses the issues attached with inequality with respect to incomes of the Americans.

Argument of the Author

The argument provided by Freeman in his book is pretty solid and conclusive in stating what is the current problem with the American families in the times of today as well as what needs to be done in order to plug the gap between the Government and the masses, i.e., the American people. He has also been quite vivid and open in disclosing that United States has now clearly transfixed its conventional post as the leader in inequality among the advanced countries of the world. His strategies (five in number) have also given a way of raising the bottom and relieving inequality, which has been useful from the inequality point-of-view.

More than that, Freeman is definite and certain about his provision of facts and does not feel any problems in telling all and sundry about the underlying problems related with inequality subjects and the like. He has also talked about the "Purchasing Power Parity" terms, thus taking into consideration the different variations in prices as well as a comparison of United States with other countries.

Critics have been judgmental in stating that America should grow its way out of this problem through a more flexible approach towards the Federal Reserve policies which in return would increase the tax returns to capital investment for the future generations and thus the problem of income inequality would automatically be solved.
